Disclosure Policy
AAEM
endorses the guidelines for accredited continuing medical education
programs as set forth in the ACCME's "Standards for Commercial
Support of Continuing Medical Education" and adheres to them
in the conduct of its educational activities. AAEM maintains control
over the development of its educational programs and the selection
of topics and presenters.
A full
disclosure of proprietary interests is required of all presenters
and faculty members and the presence of any such relationship will
be reported to all program attendees. Even with disclosure, presentations
should not promote use of a commercial product. AAEM is committed
to the non-promotional advancement of knowledge and science in Emergency
Medicine.
Session
presenters and faculty members are required to disclose proprietary
interests on the enclosed disclosure statement and at the time of
their presentation. Failure to disclose proprietary interests on
the statement or at the time of presentation will result in exclusion
from future programs for up to five years.
Faculty
members are encouraged to use generic rather than trade drug names
in conjunction with AAEM educational activities. In addition, multiple
drugs and/or therapies should be discussed whenever it is appropriate
to do so. Any discussion of unlabeled uses of products regulated
or still under investigation of the FDA must be disclosed as such
to the audience.
