ACCME Information (for US Physicians)
Accreditation
Statement
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with
the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for
Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship
of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) and the European
Society for Emergency Medicine (EuSEM). AAEM is accredited by the
ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Credit
Designation
AAEM designates this educational activity on an hour-for-hour
basis in Category 1 towards the AMA Physician's Recognition Award.
Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she
actually spent in the educational activity.
Delegates
can claim up to a maximum of 27 hours of Category 1 CME.
Target
Audience
This CME activity targets American, European and international emergency
physicians and nurses who are seeking didactic education in Emergency
Medicine and the opportunity for international exchange of information.
This exchange pertains to the advancement of international emergency
medical services and education in the world in general, and in the
Mediterranean basin and Europe in particular.
Disclosure
Policy
All faculty participating in CME programs sponsored by AAEM are
expected to disclose to the audience any real or apparent conflicts
of interest to the content of their presentations.
Learning
Objectives
To understand the history of development of EM as a specialty
and the status of various developed, developing and underdeveloped
nations in the Mediterranean basin. To comprehend the diversity
in the scope of practice and clinical privileges that EM specialists
are certified and expected to provide. To understand the general
principles in common emergencies such as resuscitation, cardiovascular,
pediatric and trauma management. To understand the general principles
of disaster and prehospital care and the basic principles of triage
and stabilization. To grasp general research principles in the field
of EM from the oral and poster moderated presentation of new research
presented by attendees.
