The American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Designation Statement
The American Academy of Emergency Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 21 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Learning Objectives
The overall objective is the advancement of international emergency medical services and education in the Mediterranean basin - Europe in particular - and the world in general. Other learning objectives include:
- Describing the history of development of emergency medicine as a specialty and its status in various developed, developing and underdeveloped nations in the Mediterranean basin.
- Comprehending the diversity of the scope of practice and clinical privileges for which emergency medicine specialists are certified and expected to provide.
- Contrasting the general principles of treating common emergencies such as resuscitation, cardiovascular and respiratory complaints, paediatric patients and trauma management.
- Utilizing general principles of disaster and prehospital care and the basic principles of triage and stabilization.
- Assimilating general research principles from the oral and poster sessions of new research presented by attendees.
Target Audience
This CME activity is designed for European, American and international emergency physicians and nurses who seek didactic education in emergency medicine and an opportunity to exchange information with international colleagues. This exchange pertains to the advancement of international emergency medical services and education in the Mediterranean basin - Europe in particular - and the world in general.

Faculty participating in CME programmes sponsored by AAEM are expected to disclose to the audience any real or apparent conflicts of interest to the content of their presentations.
CME Certificates
Delegates may claim their AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ using an online self-report form, following the close of MEMC VI. User ID numbers and passwords will be emailed to all registered delegates 4-6 weeks after MEMC VI with instructions and a link to access the self-report form. Delegates will be required to identify the sessions they attended and can then print their own certificates.
