Pat Croskerry, MD, PhD
Pat Croskerry is a Professor in Emergency Medicine at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He holds a cross-appointment in the Faculty of Medical Education and in 2002 was appointed a Senior Clinical Research Scholar at Dalhousie. He has worked in the area of Medical Error and Patient Safety for the last 15 years.
His research is principally concerned with the impact of cognitive and affective error on clinical decision-making, specifically on diagnostic error. He has published over 50 articles and a dozen book chapters in the area of patient safety, and medical education reform. He is currently editing a major text on Patient Safety in Emergency Medicine to be published later this year.
Five years ago, he implemented the first undergraduate course on medical error in Canada at Dalhousie University. In 2006, he was recognized by the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada for innovation in medical education, and in the same year was appointed to the Board of the Canadian Patient Safety Institute.

Colin Robertson is a Professor of Emergency Medicine and Surgery at the University of Edinburgh and a Consultant to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Lewis R. Goldfrank, MD
Dr. Goldfrank is professor and chairman of emergency medicine at the New York University School of Medicine, Bellevue Hospital Center. He is the medical director of the New York City Poison Control Center. Dr. Goldfrank served as president of the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) and chaired the American Board of Emergency Medicine’s (ABEM) Subboard on Medical Toxicology. He is senior editor of Goldfrank’s Toxicologic Emergencies, a standard text in medical toxicology, the eighth edition of which was published in 2006. Dr. Goldfrank is a member of the Institute of Medicine (IOM). His entire career has been spent working in the public hospitals of New York City emphasizing the role of Emergency Medicine in improving access to care, public health, public policy and medical humanism.
Gautam G. Bodiwala, CBE, DL, DSc (Hon), MS, FRCS, FRCP, FCEM, FIFEM
Gautam Bodiwala is President of the International Federation for Emergency Medicine (IFEM). Dr. Bodiwala, a consultant in Emergency Medicine since 1977, was head of the Emergency Department in Leicester, UK for more than 25 years. He was an officer and a Council and Board member of the Casualty Surgeons’ Association, British Association for Emergency Medicine and the Faculty of Accident and Emergency Medicine. He now sits on the merger Board of the College of Emergency Medicine. Internationally he has advised India, Bulgaria, South Africa, Uganda and Kenya on setting up EMS and training programme in EM. He coordinates overseas examinations in India, Hong Kong and Singapore on behalf of the College of Emergency Medicine (UK). He has extensively lectured nationally and overseas and has published more that 70 scientific papers and one book. He was a member of the Court of University of Leicester for eight years and currently a Governor of the De Montfort University of Leicester. His contribution to Emergency Medicine has earned him local, national and international recognitions.
Judith Tintinalli, MD, MS
Dr. Tintinalli is Professor and founding Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her MD degree from Wayne State University, and completed residency training and received her MPH from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Department of Emergency Medicine has 20 clinical faculty and 2 research faculty, a fully accredited 3-year emergency medicine residency programme, and has Divisions of Emergency Medical Services and Informatics.
Dr. Tintinalli was president of the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) in 1989-1990, was the founding president of the Council of Emergency Medicine Residency Directors (CORD), and was chairman of the Liaison Residency Committee (forerunner of the ACGME sponsored Residency Review Committee). She is editor in chief of the world’s largest-selling emergency medicine textbook, Emergency Medicine: A Comprehensive Study Guide, in its 6th (2004) McGraw Hill edition, and co-editor of Obstetric and Gynecologic Emergencies, 2nd ed, McGraw-Hill, 2004. She was a Board Member and Deputy Editor of the Annals of Emergency Medicine until 2005. She was elected to the National Academy of Sciences, Institute of Medicine, in 1997, and was a member of the North Carolina Institute of Medicine, Task Force on the Uninsured (2005). She is President-Elect of the Association of Academic Chairs of Emergency Medicine (2006-2007) and is Editor in Chief of AccessEmergencyMedicine, the McGraw Hill digital library for emergency medicine, released January, 2007.
Peter Cameron, MD
Peter Cameron is Vice President of the International Federation of Emergency Medicine, previous president of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) and has a keen interest in developing emergency medicine internationally. He was responsible for the initial introduction of the CME programme in Australasia for Emergency Medicine. He has extensive research interests in prehospital, emergency and trauma care. He is coeditor of Adult and Paediatric Texts in Emergency Medicine. His present positions include Academic Director at The Alfred Emergency and Trauma Centre and Professor of Emergency Medicine at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.
